Sun Prairie Digital History

In 2019, we began selecting material from our local history reference collection, the archives of the Sun Prairie Historical Library and Museum, and photos taken by library staff members over the years to showcase the history of the Sun Prairie Public Library in time for the 20th anniversary of the Linnerud Street building. With this milestone passed, we continued to digitize historical material and ended up with a collection of photos, pamphlets, self-published books, and handwritten histories that we felt told the story of the library and its place in the community.

Our first batch of digitized material became available in February of 2020. More material will be uploaded throughout the year.

Sun Prairie history is a collaborative project between the Sun Prairie Public Library and the Sun Prairie Historical Museum. Both organizations have collections of historical archives that chronicle the people, places, and events and tell the story of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, a formerly rural space that has become a suburb of Madison.

Thank you to our patient and smart volunteers, without whom this project would not have been possible.
