The Sun Prairie Public Library has a history stretching over 100 years.  It evolved from humble beginnings from a collection of 208 books in the old City Hall to a collection of nearly 150,000 physical items and counting.  Through the efforts of the Sun Prairie community, the public library was founded in 1901, and that same community helped build the current facility through hard work and dedication to learning.  The library would also be nothing without the volunteers and staff who have worked in it throughout the years and helped to make it something the community of Sun Prairie can be proud of.  The following chapters tell the story of the Sun Prairie Public Library.

Origins (1901-1924)
Coming of Age (1924-1967)
Growing Pains (1967-1999)
Modernization (1999)
