April 16, 2020
Dear Library Patrons,
As we enter week five of the library’s closure due to the COVID-19 crisis, I hope that you are staying safe and healthy at home and wanted to wish everyone a Happy National Library Week which officially kicks off this Sunday, April 19! Look for virtual programs throughout the week as we celebrate.
The services and resources we currently have in place have expanded over the past month. In addition to enhanced digital content, virtual storytimes, book clubs and gaming programs, online library card applications, reference services by phone and email, resources for workforce, food and health assistance, we recently added:
- Library programs on KSUN, KIDS-4 and 103.5 Community Radio thanks to our friends at the Sun Prairie Media Center
- Facebook Live Poetry Readings in honor of National Poetry Month
- Video tech tutorials to help you navigate new tools
Many of you are aware Governor Evers’ "Safer at Home" orders have been extended until May 26. However the order allows for limited library service prior to that date. The amended order allows libraries to begin offering curb-side pick up of library items with certain restrictions. Please be patient as we work with our partner libraries in the South Central Library System over the next few weeks to develop plans to offer this service while keeping library staff and the public safe. Additional information will be announced when and how curb-side service may be available. We look forward to seeing you and serving you again!
In the meantime, I wish you a happy and healthy National Library Week and hope you will be able to take advantage of our growing virtual library! Please stay well and feel free to reach out by phone (608-825-7323) or email (sunref [at] sunlib.org) with any questions, suggestions or concerns.
Svetha Hetzler, Sun Prairie Public Library Director
